Driving simulators

It is an established fact that driving simulators, during novice driver training, may greatly enhance safe driving: a large scale study, performed in the US, see this link (R. Wade Allen, George D. Park, Marcia L. Cook, Dary Fiorentino, 2007), has shown that:

  • When a good driving simulator is used, accident rate during the two year period after getting the licence, is reduced to 34% of the national average accident rate of novice drivers: simulators can definitely improve driver training and result in safer drivers. Since teen accident rates are about 5 times higher than mature drivers, the application of simulators in driver training should be seriously considered.
  • The effects are largest when a wide field-of-view driving simulator is used with real-word image sizing, as in our ST Software Jentig 50 systems.

Models

Description:

The Jentig 50 is the showpiece of ST Software: a stylish design, finished in aluminium/black. It is equipped with large 50 inch displays in high resolution. In addition, two fast computers result in a high frame rate of 60 images per second. The images are generated with an unprecedented clarity and sharpness. The dimensions of the 50 model are 2.60 x 1.80 meter (w x l).

Description:

The Light 32 is a great looking economical cockpit simulator. This compact system and comes with three 32 inch displays. The design is representative and glossy with polyester and aluminium components. It is especially suitable when available space is limited. The dimensions of the 32 model are 1.92 x 1.50 meter (w x l).

Software

Description:

The simulator training involves a large part of the initial driver training curriculum. It is a standard method for learning to drive, a kind of ‘training in a box’. Each trainee is trained with a quaranteed level of quality. The automatic observation of behaviour by the simulator results in an analysis of the strong and weak points of the trainee and of how fast learning progresses.

Description:

The simulator teaches how to save up to 20 or 30% of fuel by applying another style of driving. We offer a fun way of experiencing the effect of driving style on fuel consumption. You learn how to save money and reduce CO2 emission and that's good for the environment. The complete session takes from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Description:

A large number of people suffer from some form of driving fear or driving anxiety. The driving fear package consists of three drives of 50 minutes each. Driving fear reduces after driving for a while in the simulator. The training starts on a quiet rural (simulated) road. The second drive is in a town with more traffic and more complex traffic situations. The third drive is on a motorway with a lot of high-speed traffic.

Description:

For police and emergency services we offer the package "driving with optical and sound signals". This consists of 4 lessons where the trainee drives to an accident. During the lesson, the trainee switches the siren on or off. The autonomous intelligent traffic detects the police car and responds to the siren, sometimes according to the prevailing traffic rules and rules involving priority vehicles, but sometimes with startle reactions or annoying behaviour.
